- Treasure Your Health: Amare & Mental Wellness
Health Struggles In the summer of 2023, I faced mental and emotional health challenges caused by mysterious and persistent health issues. During this difficult time, a former chiropractor introduced me to Amare , a Mental Wellness Company, and shared how their supplements had transformed his well-being. Shortly after, a dear friend also spoke of how Amare had positively impacted her wellness journey. I was encouraged by their stories, and I felt inspired and determined to try this regimen. I was at my wit's end and was willing to try something new. What's a Leaky Gut? I was introduced to two health mentors who wholeheartedly believed in Amare products. I learned about the concept of a leaky gut—something I had never considered before. I took probiotics for years but learned from my mentors that they weren’t enough to keep my gut healthy. So, what is a leaky gut? It occurs when the intestinal lining has cracks that allow toxins to leak into the bloodstream (Cleveland Clinic, 2025). Some symptoms of a leaky gut that I experienced were: Bloating Constipation Fatigue Gas Suspected causes of a leaky gut that I experienced were: Dehydration Poor diet Stress Gut-Brain-Axis Did you know the gut and brain are deeply connected? Often called our “second brain,” the gut communicates with the brain and influences our physical and mental well-being. An imbalanced gut can lead to mood swings, chronic issues, and more. A Game-Changer Since starting Amare in the summer of 2023, I’ve experienced transformative changes: Improved mood and mental clarity. Reduced chronic pain and hives. Better digestion, an imperative sign of a healthier gut. While my health journey is ongoing, the improvements I’ve seen with Amare have been life-changing. My Top Two Amare Must-Haves I take a variety of different Amare supplements, but my two favorite ones that I have seen significant improvement in my health are: MentaBiotics - A unique blend of probiotics, prebiotics, and phytobiotics that support mental wellness by nurturing the gut-brain connection (Amare, 2025). MentaSync - Promotes communication between the brain and gut, supporting overall immunity and balance with clinically studied natural ingredients (Amare, 2025). Want to Learn More? - My Health Journey: Progress, Perseverance, & Hope for 2025
My Health Journey Since 2018, I’ve primarily been managing chronic pain. However, starting in 2023, new health challenges emerged—fatigue, chronic hives, heavy metal toxicity, and a suspected genetic variant that may prevent my body from processing vitamin B correctly. 2024 was especially tough, with those added symptoms and low energy levels. Nonetheless, I persevered, seeking answers and learning more about my body. I’m thankful to have been under the care of an excellent doctor in the Southern U.S. since 2023 who believes all my symptoms may be linked to this genetic variant. With this insight, I’ve started taking a methylated vitamin B supplement that is already in an active form that the body can easily absorb and use. For those who take a regular vitamin B that can be purchased over-the-counter at drug stores, the body needs to convert non-methylated B vitamins into active forms through methylation. I’m also grateful for the incredible health mentors and practitioners who have supported me. Their insights and encouragement have been invaluable. 2025 Health Update I proudly and thankfully report that after almost two months of taking the methylated B vitamins, my pain has significantly reduced, especially in my lower back. I have moments, days of relief. I am so grateful and pray that other symptoms continue to improve. My doctor has encouraged me to add a methylated B12 supplement and methylated folic acid if I see improvement in my health. These supplements are on the horizon in 2025. I hope these three God-sent supplements and my current supplements continue to improve my health. The Journey Continues While this journey is far from over, I remain optimistic and grateful for every step forward. Each day is an opportunity to learn, heal, and discover new ways to improve my well-being. It has been a revelational experience. What Keeps Me Going? Through the challenges and setbacks, I’ve found strength in meaningful practices. These are seven things that keep me moving forward: Never give up. Keep searching for answers and never settle for less. I told myself seven years ago that I would do whatever it took to find remedies to feel better. I would not be complacent and suffer from chronic pain. Listen to your body. I prioritize activities and choices that support my body. Most importantly, I listen to her and honor her limits. Everything is in moderation. Take deep breaths. Stay grounded in the present moment. Limiting the stress levels has helped manage the chronic pain. Be surrounded by good company. Being surrounded by loved ones has helped minimize the pain, as my attention is focused elsewhere in a positive way. Have a well-balanced diet. What I ingest is vital to my well-being. Certain foods have triggered pain in my body. Also, keeping well-hydrated with water is essential. Stretch. Gentle stretches help release tension and improve circulation. Again, in moderation. Move your body. Movement nurtures both body and mind, whether walking or light yoga. Movement helps loosen the joints and releases stiffness from being sedentary for too long. This health journey has taught me resilience, patience, and gratitude. I have also learned to celebrate every victory. I hope my story encourages anyone facing challenges to seek answers and find joy in every step of the process. Cheers, Gini x 19 January 2025
- My Path to Understanding, Coping, & Healing through Pain
The Pain Journey The start of constant pain entered my life unexpectedly in early 2015, starting with intermittent tailbone discomfort after a long flight back from Southeast Asia. I shrugged it off, attributing it to sitting too long. In 2018, the pain grew, spreading to other parts of my body. It remained, and I knew I needed to seek medical attention. A specialist diagnosed me with mechanical arthritis in my sacroiliac joint area, but the root cause remained elusive. In 2022, my primary care physician speculated that I might have arthralgia , a condition characterized by widespread pain without inflammation or an autoimmune disorder. Another specialist that same year claimed I had fibromyalgia , which is related to widespread chronic pain, fatigue, and insomnia. The Search for Balance & Relief I’ve tried countless treatments—both medical and holistic—hoping for relief, but I always ended up back at square one. I've explored every avenue, from physical therapy to dietary changes to various holistic practices. In 2019, I modified my diet, eliminating inflammation-causing foods, but the journey to finding the right balance is ongoing. By 2022, I began a mixture of pescatarian and plant-based diets. In 2024, I've been trying to refrain from gluten and deep-fried foods. Throughout this journey, as frustrating as it's been, I’m thankful I never turned to opioids or addictive medications, opting instead for a more natural approach to pain management. Lessons Learned & Revelations Living with chronic pain without finding a lasting solution has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life. There were days when the pain was so intense that I felt hopeless, anxious, and down. During these moments, I often turned to prayer, asking God to reveal the purpose behind the pain. Here's what was revealed to me: This experience has made me resilient. Suffering is not the answer. I will continue finding a remedy that works. I won't give up! Maintaining healthy boundaries for my physical and mental health has been crucial. I have to take care of myself before I can care for others. I have met many holistic mentors and practitioners who have been instrumental in this journey. Slow down and pace myself. Grace, patience, and forgiveness have become essential to my healing process. More to Learn! I am open to learning from others to expand my wisdom and knowledge. If anyone is battling a chronic condition, please share your journey and ways that have helped you cope. I would love to hear from you! Cheers! Gini x 12 January 2025
- 2025, Here We Go!
Welcome, 2025! Aloha, 2025! Each new year brings a fresh opportunity to reflect, reset, and realign with our purpose. As I look back on 2024, I’m reminded of the growth I’ve experienced and the lessons I learned. I never stop learning. I’m focusing on the goals and aspirations that will guide me through this new chapter. 2025 Focus Here’s what I’ll be focusing on in the new year: Be in the present moment. Getting caught up in plans or dwelling on the past is easy and familiar. This year, I will continue practicing mindfulness and finding peace and gratitude in the present moment. Focus on things I control. Instead of getting overwhelmed, I’ll direct my energy into areas where I can make an impact and let go of the rest. It's easier said than done, but I’ll do my best. Set smaller, manageable goals. In the past, I’ve sometimes set the bar a bit too high, which has led to stress and burnout. This year, to stay balanced, I’ll break my goals into smaller, achievable ones. Be patient and kind to myself. Self-compassion is an ongoing journey. I’ll work on embracing my imperfections and treating myself with the kindness I’d offer a dear friend. Why do we often treat others better than we treat ourselves? Let it be a reminder to extend that same care to ourselves. Continue to take risks. Though sometimes scary, taking chances has helped me grow unexpectedly. I’ve learned that I’m braver than I think. In 2025, I’ll keep stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing opportunities to live life fully. YOLO, baby! Keep rediscovering myself. Self-discovery is progressing. Each day brings new insights about who I am and what I am becoming. I’m excited to keep learning and evolving. Cultivate new friendships. Building connections can be challenging, but they are also so rewarding. This year, I will continue seeking meaningful relationships with people who inspire me and enrich my life. Many of these goals are easier said than done. Nonetheless, I’ll give it my all. If I stumble or revert to old habits, I’ll remind myself of Maya Angelou’s wisdom: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” Let's Get It! As we step into the Year of the Snake, a symbol of transformation and renewal, I’d love to hear about your goals and intentions in 2025. Let’s encourage and support each other on this journey. Happy 2025! May it be a year of beginnings, kindness, triumph, aha moments, and resilience. Let's get it! Cheers! Gini x 5 January 2025
- The Essence of Winter’s Gifts
“Winter” in Hawaiʻi Growing up in Hawai‘i, winter was a concept rather than a season. Nights might dip into the high 50s (Fahrenheit) (≈10ºC), and daytime temperatures often hovered in the low 80s (Fahrenheit) (≈27ºC). There was no need for heavy coats, snow boots, or layering clothes. Winter in Hawai‘i meant warm sunshine, gentle trade winds, and holiday celebrations at the beach. However, as I got older, I experienced the winter season in various places, with temperatures as frigid as the teens (Fahrenheit) (≈-9ºC). The icy chill was unlike anything I’d ever known—brrr! Learning to Love the Season For as long as I can remember, winter was not my favorite season. However, over the years, I’ve embraced winter and its quiet beauty. I’ll never forget seeing snow for the first time—it was pure magic. I remember hearing the satisfying crunch of snow under my boots, making my first snowball, and the joy of examining my first snowflake. Those moments were breathtaking and unforgettable. I’ve also developed a newfound appreciation for the little things that make winter unique—like the sun. Hawai'i's sun can be very intense, especially on sweltering, humid summer days. But the sun's warmth is a blessing and gift during the chilly winter air. My heart smiles when the sun shines brightly, and my soul is grateful. I cherish wrapping my hands around a steaming cup of tea or hot chocolate and curling up under a warm blanket. Winter offers stillness—a chance to pause, reflect, and just be. Winter’s Lessons Experiencing winter has taught me resilience and adaptability. It’s also shown me the beauty of change, the importance of slowing down, and the value of finding warmth in unexpected places. Winter has become more than a season to endure—it’s a season to cherish. I’m reminded of the importance of embracing change and finding joy in life’s unexpected transitions. What does winter mean to you? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments. Cheers! - Keeping the Busy Christmas Season Joyful
Christmas, A Wonderful Time of the Year Since childhood, the Christmas season has been a cozy, feel-good, and giddy time for me. I fondly remember decorating the Christmas tree, having Christmas breakfast with the family at my late aunt's house, shopping for gifts, wrapping presents, and the joy of giving. As a teenager, I came to appreciate the religious meaning of the season, which I hold in high regard. Christmas brought its challenges during adulthood. I wanted to do it all—baking, cooking, shopping, wrapping, enjoying festive activities, spending time with loved ones, and creating new traditions together—while juggling my full-time professional life. Tips on Maintaining a Stress-Free Holiday Season Here are seven tips that have helped me find balance and joy during the busy holiday season: Create small, manageable goals and accept them. With a full-time job, I couldn’t do everything on my holiday goal list, so I had to prioritize and accept what I could complete without burning myself out. Setting realistic expectations and embracing them helped me focus on what mattered most. Focus on having fun, too. Embrace the joy of the season, not just the to-do lists. Being present and allowing yourself to enjoy the little moments makes everything feel much more rewarding and pleasant. Set boundaries to avoid overcommitment. It’s easy to say yes to every event or gathering, but prioritizing what’s most meaningful can help you enjoy the season without burning out. It's ok to set boundaries with your time so you have space to unwind and appreciate the holidays. Remember to self-care. Amid all the excitement, take time to rest and recharge. Simple self-care practices, like enjoying tea or taking a peaceful walk, can boost your energy and spirits. Simplify and let go. Not everything needs to be perfect or handmade. Choose a few meaningful touches, like a favorite recipe or heartfelt gift, and let go of the rest. Simplifying your efforts can make the holidays more manageable and enjoyable. I am reminded to practice this tip every single year. Embrace imperfection. Plans may not always go as expected, but that’s ok. The best memories often come from spontaneous moments. Embrace the imperfections and cherish what the holiday season brings. Stay focused on what matters most. Amidst the hustle and bustle, make time for what fills your heart—connecting with loved ones, reflecting on your goals, or simply enjoying quiet moments of gratitude. I wish you and yours a beautiful holiday season. Savor every moment, cherish the little joys, and embrace the magic of the most beautiful time of the year. Cheers! Gini x 15 December 2024

- The Magic of Seven
Seven Pillars of the Taste of Life Blog As you probably noticed, seven is a recurring theme in my posts, including my seven pillars of the Taste of Life blog. When I created Taste of Life , I knew I wanted seven pillars to be the foundation of this platform: 1. Emotional Wellness 2. Physical Vitality 3. Holistic Remedies 4. Altruism and Kindness 5. Self-Discovery and Aha Moments 6. Quick and Healthy Recipes 7. Gratitude and Simplicity Each pillar reflects a part of my life that I value deeply, and seven ties them together beautifully. It reminds me to focus on what matters most while keeping my message clear and intentional. Why Seven Resonates Personally Seven is my go-to number for setting goals or organizing ideas. It feels right to break down projects into seven steps or create lists of seven items. This number holds a special place in my heart—it's a source of inspiration and good luck. Finding Your Own Magic What about you? Do you have a favorite number that inspires you? I’d love to hear about it! Cheers! Gini x 24 November 2024
- Embracing Autumn & Gratitude
A Time for Reflection & Growth Autumn is one of my favorite seasons. I especially love the beautiful shades of red, orange, and yellow leaves. The fall season symbolizes a transition period when nature gently reminds us to let go. This year, I’ve been especially mindful of what this season represents: a time to accept the shifts in my life, release what no longer serves me, and find beauty in change. There have been many changes this year. Annual Thankful Challenge As we enter November, the annual Thankful Challenge is upon us—an entire month dedicated to being thankful as the American Thanksgiving holiday approaches. While this tradition is often associated with family gatherings, turkey, stuffing, green bean casseroles, and festive celebrations, gratitude has a more profound power that’s especially meaningful during autumn. It allows us to shift our focus from our struggles and uncertainties toward the abundance and beauty surrounding us. The Thankful Challenge has been a beautiful opportunity to remind myself of the blessings during November and every day. Getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of life can hinder us from reflecting on daily gratitude. This exercise has helped me reframe my experiences in a positive light. Whether you’re experiencing joy or challenge, gratitude can shift your perspective and open your heart and mind in a life-changing way. Gini's Seven Gratitudes These are seven things I am grateful for this month: The gorgeous sunset. Romantic-comedy movies. Cooking healthy and delicious meals. Laughter. Encouragement and support from my inner circle. The new Taste of Life platform. Courage. Take on the Challenge I hope you'll participate in the annual challenge and make the gratitude experience your own. Over time, gratitude will deepen your connection to the world. It has for me, and this is still just the beginning. Please check my social media platforms for daily postings. Facebook: https://facebook.com/gini.taste.of.life Instagram: https://instagram.com/gini.taste.of.life This year's theme will feature a live photo of what I'm thankful for daily. This practice will continue to encourage me to find optimism every day, even if the day is challenging. I aim to create new themes annually to keep this challenge alive and exciting. Happy November! May your autumn be full of reflection, growth, and gratitude. Cheers! Gini x 03 November 2024
